President's Message

As my two-year term Presidency for the McKernan Community League draws to a close, I want to thank those that gave me support through this term of my Presidency. It was a triumphant year in some respect, however, still much work need to continue to complete some ongoing tasks. I am happy to be part of several social events and busiiness meetings that addressed the needs of our Community. The contact between different Community Leagues, Members of Parliament, Members of City Council was very gratifying. The work that all of these organizations have done to help our Community is enourmous. Thanks to EFCL who continues to work very hard for all the Communities. For all those in the Community that I have met and who are concerns about issues and have attended some of the meetings to address their concerns, we thank them. Thanks also to Sgt. Steve Young who continues to update us with the Safety within our community.

I will still be devoted on some other portfolios that I am passionate about and will continue Chairing of Social Events, etc. I hope to initiate areas that need addressing in the Community. There are so much left to do and more volunteers are required to assist in making the community a better place to live in. There are various sub committees that we have and any assistance to those who would like to join would be great.

Please come out to the Barbecue on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the McKernan Park located on 76 Avenue and 112 Street. We will also be having a Silent Auction to assist with the fundraising of rebuilding/upgrading our Community Hall.

I am in Europe at this time composing this Message and as I look around through all of my travels, I am so greatful to be part of a Community as McKernan and truly blessed to be in a Country/City that we as Community Members and Volunteers do so much for the betterment of the Community. There is no place like home.
