McKernan Park upgrades confirmed for 2012

The City has confirmed constuction will begin in spring/summer 2012 to convert the current wading pool area into a spraydeck and adjoining Skate Spot. We are very excited!

We are currently seeking donations to assist in reaching our fundraising goals. The MCL is partnering with the Edmonton Skateboard Association (ESA) in this endeavour. We are asking for your support in the revitalization of McKernan Park. Contributions of $100.00 will be recognized by a 4x8 inch commemorative brick engraved with an inscription of your choice, which will be placed around the benches in the new development. Contributions of $250.00 will be recognized by a brick 8x8inches. Donations are tax deductable and best of all your contibutuion will be matched dollar for dollar through the City NPDP grant program!

Skate Spot Dedication

The MCL is very fortunate to be working with the ESA in the design of the Skate Spot. The concrete surface in the park has been an oasis for skateboarders for many, many years. The much improved spot will be dedicated to a special young man who passed away from cancer not so long ago. He grew up in the local area and regularly skated in this park.
