Pocket Park seeks helpers

Our fabulous Pocket Park needs some extra help this summer. We're looking for some volunteers for the May 22 Plant-in, plus a paid helper for some ongoing work.

Plant-in: May 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Help us get our Pocket Park at 112 St. and University Ave. ready for the season! All help welcomed, novice gardener to expert. Bring a shovel!

Summer garden helper needed (casual part-time)

The League is looking for someone with a strong back to help out a few hours a week with tasks at the Pocket Park (112 St. and University Ave.) and around the community hall.

Duties include preparing planting beds and adding soil/compost, pruning, mowing and other projects.

This would be a great position for a young person looking for casual work, but anyone is welcome who can handle strenuous tasks like shovelling.

You would work under the supervision of the Pocket Park team, but self-starters are definitely welcome. Hours would vary over the summer but would work out to approximately 2-4 hours per week. Flexibility depends on your need for supervision, but work time would likely be Thursday evenings to begin with. Pay rate to be determined.

Gardening experience is not required but is a big bonus.
