Fun Places

McKernan Rink

The McKernan ice rink is a very special place in the winter months and is 100% volunteer run!

Some years we are also able to set up a smaller snowbank rink for the little ones. Both rinks are open for shinny, broomball and public skating. Remember to get your membership and skate tags to use the rink. Rinks are located next to the hall at 78 Ave. and 113 St.

Pocket Park

Our Pocket Park is located at the corner of 112 St. and University Ave. and forms an attractive spot to rest and watch the world go by. Neighbours from McKernan and Garneau plant, weed and water the park every Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. through the summer (barring rain) to keep it looking great. Volunteers and plant donations always appreciated.

McKernan Park

McKernan Park, at 76 Ave and 112 St., features a playground, spray park, mini skate park and picnic gazebo. It's a focal point for neighbourhood kids, especially in the summer when playground programs take place.

Community Centre

Our community hall, the McKernan Community Centre, is the gathering point for community events, public and private. It also hosts a variety of recreational events, and is home to the McKernan Child Care Society and the Alberta AdaptAbilities society.
